Nothing is more important to Baby Boomers than family and friends, and spending time with them. Here's a resource for everyone you care about: children, parents, grandchildren, friends and other interesting people.

Nicknames for Grandparents

A recent article in our local paper listed some of the unusual names used for grandparents, because apparently Baby Boomers don’t want to stick with the tried and true nicknames. Could it be that we don’t want to be called Grandma or Grandpa because that might suggest our age? Naw, that couldn’t be it. Our generation just wants to be more creative, to set new trends, as in all other things.

Some of the names listed n the article were familiar (Gram, GiGi, Nonna, Nonno, Papa, Nana), but a lot I had never heard of (Chief, Bampie, Big Mama, Gree and Mad Dog. Mad Dog?)

A call for unusual pet names for grandparents elicited some good ones from Boom This! Ezine readers, one of whom even stopped packing for her family’s beach vacation to drop me a line. Thank you all!
