Be Seen (Safely) at Night

Those of you who are out walking and running at night scare me. Coming upon you abruptly when I am driving home gives me an adrenalin rush I can do without. Too many nocturnal athletes tend to wear dark clothing with nothing to broadcast their existence until a car is nearly upon them.

Not any more. Through the innovative products available at www.RoadID.com, you will be visible for long distances to approaching traffic, keeping both you and the drivers safe.

RoadID offers a variety of products that include super bright lights that can flash or provide a steady beam when you wear them.

I walk-tested the samples that RoadID sent me. One item is the Firefly High Visibility Gear light, providing the brightest, lightest, most durable security light in its class, according to the website. This small light comes in several colors with a plastic clip for attaching to a belt, backpack or collar or with a wrist attachment. The lights are designed to be seen up to a mile away, which might cause someone seeing your flashing light to wonder if they are seeing a UFO. That’s until they get close enough to you to determine that, no, it’s just a healthy neighbor out walking.

The website also carries various identification bracelets which would have your emergency information etched onto them should you get injured out on the roads or trails and be unable to provide your vital information. There’s also a space on the ID bracelet where you can include your allergies to certain medications or to let people know that you have a disease, such as diabetes.

All in all, these gadgets walk the walk for those who walk, run or bike. If I could I would buy them for everyone in my neighborhood who is out and about on the streets after the sun goes down, as much for their safety as for my peace of mind!
