Transform Your Home with Color
Here are some great tips to add color to your home:!

  • Add new brightly colored throw pillows to your sofa or bed. There are a lot of bright colors out there. The new hot decorating colors are purple (lavender...any shade of), golds and yellows and orange is still good. Pottery Barn has pretty pillows with pictures of birds and butterflies on them.....they also have the slipcover kind so you just have to change the cover. Other good places to shop for  pillows are:  TJ Maxx or Marshalls, Kirklands, Crate and Barrel, Target, Pottery Barn.
  • Swithch out some accessories. Lamps, accent rugs, etc. have gone more contemporary the past few years, even if your furniture style is traditional. Keep lines simple and clean. Vases, lampshades, silk florals or live greenery to add color and improve air quality. Add a splash of color with these.
  • Find a spot to use Sherwin Williams Color Pick for 2011: Indigo Batik, better know as denim. This color is going to be hot this year, and it's not a stretch to think that we all have something featuring this color around the house.
  • Paint or wallpaper an accent wall. Wallpapers are big again and patterns are not what your grandmother had. They are lots of fun, colorful or neutral, tone on tone patterns and textures.
  • Get a new shower curtain and/or bath towels. You may spend more time in that room than you think. K-mart, Target, and Bed, Bath and Beyond are great places to shop.
  • Place around some scented, colorful (soy) candles or diffusers with tropical, herbal, citrus, or floral fragrances. Everyone responds to fragrances.Citrus is supposed to rejuvenate.
  • Buy new, colorful ceramic pots for your window sill or porch and a new Spring wreath to greet you at your door or to hang on your mirror.
  • Add spring-colored plates to your china cupboard or kitchen shelves. Time to put away the holiday ones!
  • Invest in a nice white comforter instead of a bedspread and switch out your duvet cover. Duvets don't cost a lot and it's a quick way to change the look of your bedroom. Pottery Barn and Ikea are good places to look.
